Itinerary
03:00 AM – Hotel pickup and departure from Arequipa. Join your fellow travellers as we embark on a scenic drive to Chivay, where we will enjoy a hearty breakfast before continuing our journey.
Our next stop is the Cruz del Cóndor, a natural viewpoint where you will witness the awe-inspiring flight of the Andean Condor, one of the largest flying birds in the world. After soaking in this mesmerizing spectacle, we continue to Cabanaconde (3,287 MASL), the starting point of our trek.
From here, we begin our descent along a picturesque trail towards the San Miguel viewpoint, offering panoramic views of the canyon. The trek continues for three hours down to the Colca River, where we cross a suspension bridge and venture into the heart of the canyon. Along the way, you will pass through San Juan de Chuccho, a charming Andean village where we stop for a well-earned lunch.
After a short break, we continue our descent into the depths of the canyon, passing through the traditional villages of Cosñirhua (2,350 MASL) and Malata (2,350 MASL). Our final stretch takes us to the Sangalle Oasis, a lush green paradise with natural pools and spectacular canyon views. Here, you can relax, take a dip in the refreshing spring water (20°C), and unwind before enjoying a delicious dinner. End your evening by the bonfire under a starry sky, making this an unforgettable experience.
05:00 AM – We begin our ascent towards Cabanaconde, a challenging but rewarding hike as we make our way up the canyon before stopping for breakfast.
After breakfast, we board our bus and return to Chivay, making scenic stops at several breathtaking viewpoints where you can admire ancient pre-Inca terraces and traditional Andean villages. A highlight of the day is a relaxing visit to La Calera Hot Springs (35°C), where you can soak in the rejuvenating waters for an hour.
Following this, we return to Chivay for a delicious Andean buffet lunch at a local restaurant before making our way back to Arequipa. We will drop you off at your hotel, marking the end of this incredible journey.
