Embark on an exciting 12-day cultural and adventure journey through southern Peru. Start exploring the lush Amazon at the Tambopata National Reserve, a natural paradise full of biodiversity. Then, travel to Cusco, the historic Inca capital, where you will discover the impressive Sacred Valley and its dazzling landscapes. Next, follow the Vilcanota River Valley to the amazing Machu Picchu, one of the most iconic destinations in the world. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the southern mountain range as we head to the majestic Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake on the planet. Finally, delve into the charm of Puno, known as “the folkloric capital of Peru”, and explore the unique floating islands of the Uros, surrounded by a unique and incredible landscape.

Itinerary

At coordinated time, we will be at your hotel to transfer you to the airport, from here you will board your plane to Puerto Maldonado with a short stopover in Cusco airport. After your flight to Puerto Maldonado (35 minutes) you will be welcomed by our local agent who will transfer you to the main office where we will have time to prepare and repack for the following days. Next we will board our bus to continue with our expedition to the community of Infierno, where we will change transports and take the boat up to river current for two hours until we get to our lodge. On the way we can observe amazon creatures like parrots, vultures, capybaras, tortoise, monkeys, among others.

Early in the morning, we will start our day by exploring into the deep forest, learning about great varieties of medicinal trees, mammals, insects and birds. At the end of this tour will return to the lodge to enjoy the environment and get relax at your own pace. In the afternoon we will boar our boat and travel along the river to the clay lick of Chuncho where we will spend the night.

At a set time, we will start hiking to a natural lookout point, from where we will not only witness parrots, within their own habitat, but also learn about different species, such as; blue and yellow macaw, red billed macaw, military macaw, scarlet macaw, red and green macaw, blue headed macaw, and many others. Indeed these species gather at this particular point and sometimes are hard to see. After we enjoy this adventure, we will head back to our lodge.

As it is time to depart, we will board our boat and travel back to the Infierno community, from where we will board our bus in order to return to Puerto Maldonado. Here you will have time to collect your items to later be transported to the airport and board your plane to Cusco (35’). As you arrive into the airport, our local agent will contact you in order for you to be transferred to your selected hotel. Take advantage of the rest of the time in order to relax and get used to the altitude.

At 08:30am, we will sightsee along Cusco surroundings: the sacred bath of Inca’s king “Tambomachay”, the Inca check point of Puca Pucara, the sacred temple of mother earth “Quencco”, the fortress of Sacsayhuaman which hosts one of the most impressive Inca walls along to astounding architectural sites. From here we will get back to the town so we can visit the main cathedral of Cusco, which not only houses beautifully decorated catholic altars made with gold and silver, but also displays unique indigenous art work. After, we will visit the gold palace of the Inca “Qoricancha”, a place once known as the richest temple due to the amount of gold and silver designated to decorate the interior and exterior of the temple.

At 08:30am, we will begin our tour to the Sacred Valley, on the way we will have few short breaks in order to spot the scenic landscape, then we continue to Pisac archaeological site where it is displayed a perfect engineering system of terraces, chambers, drainage system, palaces and temples. Next, we will visit Pisac village, here you can browse around its local handcraft market and appreciate amazing items made by local people. Then, we will continue to Urubamba town where we will enjoy our Andean buffet lunch. Later we will arrive onto Ollantaytambo fortress, where astonishing Inca walls have been well preserved until these days. Finally, we will take you to your arranged hotel where you will spend the night.

Take the time to explore this town on your own or simply walk around the local park where a lot of highlanders gather. Keep in mind that you need to get to the train station 30 minutes before your departing time (12:58pm.). Once you will board your train, you will travel along the Canyon of Vilcanota River and as soon you arrive to your destination our local guide will be waiting for you and take to your hotel.

At 05:30am, we will be at your hotel to pick you up and board the bus (30 minutes) towards Machupicchu. Then we will start to explore the Inca citadel with spectacular walls shaped with exclusive features, also composed by magnificent walls, terraces, temples, passages and chambers; perhaps one of the most interesting sights is the temple of the sun is the three window temple, the sundial “Intihuatana” a sacred rock, the industrial area, and temple of the Condor. After, you will have some free time to wonder around on your own. Keep in mind that your guide will advise you about the time in which you should leave Machupicchu in order to have enough time to grab something to eat at Aguas Calientes town before you board your train to Ollantaytambo. As you get off at Ollantaytambo, our local staff will be waiting for you and to take you back to your hotel in Cusco.

Take your own time to explore at your own pace, Cusco offers you a variety of activities for you to enjoy; such as cooking, salsa lessons or visit some of highly recommend attraction like the Inca museum, or simply take a seat at one of the balconies and enjoy a drink of your preference.

We will pick you up from your hotel at 06:00am to transfer you to the bus station. From here, we will board the bus to travel along the dramatic Andean scenery. Along the way our first stop is at the Andean town of Andahuaylillas where you will appreciate the unique South American Sistine church dedicated to Saint Peter the apostle. This church keeps a wonderful collection of paintings and an altar covered with gold leaves. Later, we will head to the complex site of Raqchi composed by spectacular walls, Inca drainage systems, terraces, and few circular storage buildings ¨Colca¨. After, we will head to Sicuani town where we will have our Andean buffet lunch. Afterwards, we will continue to Pucara museum where we can observe a great number of original artefacts; such as ceramics, textiles, tools, and few mommies well preserved. As we continue traveling, we will arrive to Puno where our local representative will be a waiting to transfer you to your hotel.

At 06:30am, we will pick you up from your hotel, then we will transfer to the main departure point to embark our boat and start our adventure. Our first point is the floating islands of Uros where a local family will welcome you in order to have perfect opportunity to mingle and get to have unforgettable experiences. Afterwards, we will continue to Taquile Island. Upon our arrival, we will be ready to hike up to the main Andean village. On the way there, we will have the privilege to admire a group of fascinating Pre – Inca terraces and eyewitness local people knitting and weaving, a legacy still maintained from our ancestors. As soon we arrive to the main park we will have some free time to explore its local market and surroundings. Then we will regather in order to have lunch at a restaurant which offers spectacular vistas. Later we will descend by a set of pre Inca steps until we get to the port. Finally, we will return back to Puno (03 hours).

AAt a coordinated time, we will come to your hotel and transfer you to the airport in Juliaca town (50’). Here you will board your plane and flight back to Lima (01hour 30’). Hoping you had an amazing experience with us, we say good bye.
