Embark on your journey as a true Machu Picchu explorer and discover the heart of the ancient Inca Empire. Welcome to the land of the Incas. Start your adventure in Cusco, the historical capital of the Inca civilization. Walk along its narrow cobblestone streets and feel the blend of ancient traditions and colonial charm. The city is full of energy, colors, and stories waiting to be discovered. Explore vibrant Andean markets and experience local culture at its best. A visit to the famous San Pedro Market offers a closer look at daily life in the Andes. You’ll find fresh produce, traditional foods, handmade crafts, and the warm smiles of local vendors.
From Cusco, travel into the Sacred Valley of the Incas. This beautiful region stretches between green mountains and ancient sites. The valley is known for its rich history, fertile lands, and peaceful villages. Your first stop is the Pisac archaeological site, located high on a mountain slope. The site offers impressive agricultural terraces, ceremonial structures, and views that are simply breathtaking. After exploring, enjoy an authentic Andean buffet lunch in a peaceful local setting.
The journey continues through the valley to Ollantaytambo. This Inca town is a living museum, where people still live in original Inca homes. The fortress of Ollantaytambo stands as one of the most remarkable examples of Inca architecture. Massive stone walls, steep terraces, and strategic viewpoints show the intelligence and strength of this ancient culture.
In the afternoon, you will board a scenic Expedition train through the Vilcanota Valley. The ride to Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu town, is calm and filled with beautiful mountain views. The train journey sets the perfect tone for the next day.
