Itinerary
This one-of-a-kind cycling experience takes you on an extraordinary route connecting the coastal region of Ica with the Andean highlands of Ayacucho. The journey begins with a private pickup from your hotel in Nasca, followed by a scenic 80-minute drive in a tourist minibus along a rural unpaved road. The ascent starts at 600 meters above sea level and climbs gradually to 2,200 m.a.s.l., where the landscape transforms dramatically.
As we ascend, the arid coastal desert gives way to towering mountains, steep cliffs, and deep ravines. Once we reach the starting point at higher elevation, the real adventure begins: an exhilarating downhill bike ride through diverse terrain, from rugged slopes to fertile, narrow valleys hidden among the Andes.
Entering the valley, you’ll be immersed in a breathtaking agricultural mosaic. Here, fruit trees flourish—figs, apples, pears, peaches, and avocados—alongside abundant fields of legumes and native tubers such as achira and yacón, endemic treasures of the region. This fertile Andean pocket, surrounded by majestic peaks, is home to traditional communities devoted entirely to farming and livestock. Every pedal stroke through the valley reveals a landscape rich in life, tradition, and harmony with nature.
As the ride continues, the lush green valley slowly fades into arid plains, marking a striking shift in ecosystem. This visual contrast adds a powerful sense of progression to the journey, making each section of the route uniquely memorable. The final destination is the ancient aqueducts of Orcona, a stunning feat of pre-Inca hydraulic engineering. You’ll walk among underground channels, spiral stone wells, and open canals that continue to function today—testament to the genius and resilience of the Nazca civilization over a thousand years ago.
After exploring this incredible site, we’ll return comfortably by tourist vehicle to your hotel in Nasca. This cycling tour is far more than a physical adventure—it’s a deep journey through the geography, culture, and living soul of southern Peru. Nature, history, and adrenaline merge to offer you an unforgettable day on two wheels.
