Machupicchu World Wonder
Early in the morning (04:00 hrs), we will pick you up at your hotel, then we will head to Ollantaytambo town (1h and 45’ride). Here, you will board your Expedition train to the town of Aguas Calientes (90’ ride). As soon you get to the town, you will be welcomed by our representative who will assist you through your entire tour. In this village, you will board a bus (30’) following the winding road of Hiram Bingham until the national park of Machupicchu. Here, we will begin to explore the last Inca citadel surrounded be agricultural terraces which were used not only as a source of sustenance, but also as retaining walls. We will continue onto the residential area where you will be able to enter the temple of the sun, one of the most astonishing Inca buildings. Another interesting point is the main chamber where the Inca ruler used to rest. The three window temple and the shrine site of Inti Huatana are probably the most impressive and distinctive sites due to their sacred meaning associated to how the sun was symbolically tied up. A must see in this tour is the massive sacred rock, provably crafted in honour to its major food source “guinea pig”. To conclude, we will visit the industrial area and the temple of the Condor. From here, you will have the option to either hike to the sun gate or the Inca Bridge, both offer opportunities to admire the scenery and take endless photos. It is important that you head back to the town of Aguas Calientes at a convenient time as you have to be at the train station 30 minutes before your train departs. Once you disembark your train in Ollantaytambo, our agent will a wait for you so he can transfer you back to your hotel in Cusco where our services end.
