Thousands of years ago, hidden in the valley of Nazca, a civilization flourished. In a desert so dry that it rains less than an inch every year, the landscape changes as lines etched into rocks and sand take shape to form simple designs: triangles, swirls, circles. Some of these forms come together to create more complex shapes: a condor, a monkey, a hummingbird - these are the famous Nazca lines. There is some speculation behind their meaning, but in a region that receives so little precipitation, it is clear that water was an important factor. The size of these drawings suggests that perhaps they were not meant to be viewed from the ground.

Tour Highlight:
Palpa & Nazca Lines
We will agree to pick you up at coordinated time from your hotel, then we will transfer to the local airdrome of Maria Reiche. Here we will watched an informative video documentary of the Nazca and Palpa Lines. Later on we will board the plane to observe the following figures: whale, trapezoids, astronaut, dog monkey, hand, tree, lizard, parrot, pelican, spider condor, hummingbird and few another ones. Then we will continue onto the Palpa lines to observe the figures of: pelican hummingbird, star, voyager, the fertility woman and man, the ceremonial knife of tumi, solar clock, Paul Kosok hummingbird and hundreds of lines crossing the flat plain. We believe these lines and figures were made in different periods of time, according to the German, American and Peruvian archaeologist they determined that Paracas was the first initiating their art at Palpa desert in order to acknowledge their mother earth. Later the descendants of Paracas became as Nasca culture so they improved their art and drew gigantic lines and figures across the Nasca flat plane. Indeed both Paracas or Nasca civilization were absolutely organized and proactive societies, the result of their effort today is admirable around the world. In spite of time the lines and figures have remained in one of the driest earth on the planet. Indeed Maria Reiche spent over fifty years researching protecting, defending these ancient images etched onto the flat land of pampas of Nasca.
