AREQUIPA

Day 01: Arequipa – Cotahuasi Andean town .

We will pick you up from your hotel at coordinated time, then we will get start to travel along the desert on the way to western side. After 03 ½ we will arrive onto Toro Muerto (dead bull), here we will stop in order to wander around and observe engraved stones, representing a complex designs, in recent studies were counted approximately 300 hundred figures. Later on, we will head straight towards Chuquibamaba town at an altitude of 2880MASL, where we will have and enjoy our lunch, once we finished there will be free short time and stroll around. From this point we will gradually ascend to the highest point of our journey 4,900MASL, at this area you will admire the wild South American camel of vicuña. Indeed from here you can take it all in, in the distance observe the Coropuna 6,424MASL, and Salimana 6300MASL, both were sacred mountains in Inca time and even nowadays. Soon after, we will descend to the town of Cotahuasi 2680MASL, where we will spend the overnight. We would like to inform you that Cotahuasi is an Andean town with a special character, its houses, people and the background scenery with fertile valley and the mountains make astonishing painting. In the end we will have our dinner afterwards you will be ready to sleep on your best way.

Day 02: Full day trek into the Cotahuasi canyon of 3,335 msnm

At coordinated time we will have and enjoy our delicious breakfast, then we will depart into the canyon on our way we will meet local people with their daily activities at amazing terraces from Inca time still in use. In the distance we can observe an enormous mountain range. Next we will move onto the Sipia waterfall of 100 meters high. Here we will have our lunch soon after we will take a short Inca trail on the way to the Pampa de Judio (flat Jews). This are is full of cactus that grows 15 meters high. In the end we will return to the town of Cotahuasi town. This afternoon we will enjoy and relax at the swimming pool and the afternoon sunset. In the evening we will have our typical food and rest at our basic accommodation.

Day 03: Cotahuasi – Tomepampa – Puica – Hot spring of Luicho

At 07:30am, we will have our breakfast, soon after we will start hiking along the mention villages above. This is another interesting day to enrich learning and experiencing the way of life, soon we will arrive to Maucallacta this used to be an Inca sacred site. In recent studies the group of archaeologist have revealed the importance of it. Its complexity was exclusively to farm corn in order to worship the sun god. Soon after we will have our lunch, after that we will head to Luicho, where we will enjoy the properties of the hot spring and the rest of the afternoon we just contemplate the dazzling scenario. Finally we will enjoy our last delicious dinner and spent the night.

Day 04: Luicho – Arequipa

At coordinated time we will begin our last journey to Arequipa, we will ascend to the base of Coropuna Mountain. Here we will stop to acknowledge the mother earth, mountain gods. Soon after we will enjoy our delicious lunch. Later on, we will descend to the driest earth in the world, considered part of the Atacama desert. Once we finished the dirt road, we will arrive into the South American highway, to drive straight away to your hotel where our services end.
